When my wife and I were dating she lived in a DC high rise with parking in the basement. There was a dude there who had TWO Vincents!
Both were way cool - one was a Shadow. I use to look for reasons to go to the parking garage, just so I could check out those bikes or to maybe catch up to him when one was running. I started with the British bikes because I was going to kill myself with the Japanese bikes. They were so fast, and I always drove them as fast as I could. The British twins always popped good wheelies but I never seemed to want to drive as fast. I think it is because the vibration would slowly disassemble them and me over a few miles. So, I traded in one 650 Tiger for the Trident. With the triple 750, I got what was once the fasted production bike on Earth (1969?), plus got to keep the British thing (as Charlie describes), but without the vibration. Plus, the triple engine sounds so sweet near redline. The damn triple put me back in the fast lane. As soon as I bought it I blew the engine at about 110MPH with my college roommate on the back on I89 south of Burlington, VT. I got that repaired immediately and no issues since. Great bike.

It was self contained, luckily. Holed the middle piston and all the
bits stayed in the case.

wow, that's definitely NOT what happens w/ Japanese "rockets"...
I can't give those up though, the feeling of the eyeballs rolling back into your head when you twist the gas is too intense to forget, so I guess I'm heading into the "one-of-each" direction.... if I was just willing to give up on that 3.0 upgrade.... |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT I like these for their "retro" appearance and *semi-nakedness* http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT |

How's the maintenance on a Duc? A valve adjustment doesnt exactly sounds like fun. Anything else?

coming off of working on 911's, you'll feel right at home
think everything on a smaller scale, but the general bulk is similar |

That's what I'm afraid of. I think I might be looking more for the appliance bike than the '911' bike. The honda 599 and 919 looks nice.
