BillC has one HoF thread
Default Center net question

I just installed an OMP HTE-R 400 race seat in the spec boxster. It is a halo-style seat (see here).

With a halo seat, is it required to have a center net? The one that runs down the centerline of the car (from roll cage to dash). I believe it is not required, but didn't see anything in the PCA CR rules one way or the other. I would like to take it out if it isn't required.

What do y'all say?

It is optional, though recommended. For what it’s worth, I don’t run mine as I find it interferes with my view of the PS mirror...probably just needs to be adjusted a bit.

I run one - they are not required - even though it does impact visibility some. Keeping my body (esp arms) inside the containment zone in a big shunt is more important to me.

Schroth works well and is more reasonably priced than the Safecraft. That said, I may switch to safecraft so PM me if you want a deal on a schroth.

I have one in my race car. Not required by NASA, but it doesn't bother me - nor does it interfere with my view.

We ran the fine mesh net ones and not the thicker strap kind. Invisible when racing.

Who sells the fine mesh version? The thicker strap version definitely interferes with my view of the side mirror.

Door window or pax side? I've only seen mesh for the door side.

I've never seen the pax side netting be high enough to interfere with the right side mirror view. But if you're talking about the driver door window:

Sorry, I meant the center net. The top strap of the center net is right in my eyeline to the passenger side mirror. If I let the net droop a little, it’s a little less obtrusive.

Been too long, not sure where what brand it was. We probably got it from Bimmerworld but doesn't look like they carry one now.
