In case any Boxster owners have the same question as me...
I talked with "Kevin" at VIR today. I wanted to get OFFICIAL word on the OEM Boxster hoops. He told me that 2005 and newer Boxsters can run at VIR without a rollbar extension. I just saved myself some money.

As one of the instructor said "it is amazing how much money people spend on their cars to go fast, but they won't spend a few hundred more for a good helmet and get cheap stuff. your head is the most important component in the car"

Non-issue. The Chickster played chicken with the wall at Shenandoah last Fall, and the wall won.

"The goals in DE are 1) to be safe, 2) to have fun, and 3) to learn about driving your Porsche smoothly and consistently." (source, Potomac PCA DE homepage)"
Its been 4 years since my HDPE with 7 and 3 DEs at Summit Main and VIR, respectively. To understand how my driving skills have improved I compared best lap times vs time since HDPE. Interestingly, at both courses there was ~9-10% improvement in lap times since HDPE. I think rates of progression, assuming vehicle performance is constant, are highly dependent on seat time, coaching and self-development. Has anyone else done a similar exercise? |

Have there been any other changes? (i.e., brake pad compounds, tires, suspension, seats/ harnesses, etc.)

I have not. Since I drive "flat out" all the time, its impossible that my lap times have ever improved. I was already the fastest of all time
But no. Consumer Data (outside of a stopwatch) didn't exist 25+ years ago when I started DE. That said, I would also say that it was your car.. No doubt a 987.2 is 10% faster than a 987.1. And yes, all that said, "seat time" is key to improvement. Using data to improve the results of seat time are simply a wonderful aid that was not as common years ago.
