New member here...hello all
Hi there,
Wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the group. My name is Tim and I hail from Bel Air, Md., up in Harford County. I recently bought a 1986 Carrera coupe and am eager to get to know some other Porsche folks in the area as I learn about my 911. I turn my own wrenches so I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty when and where I can. I started out my old car habit with a 1974 914 2.0 about ten years ago. Two years of working through the 914's mailslot engine lid then pointed me towards a series of old BMWs with big clamshell hoods, including a couple of 2002s. The 911 has always been my automotive holy grail, so earlier this year I sold my '76 2002 with the intention of finding a decent SC or Carrera within a year or two. One fell into my lap in May, slightly shopworn but solid--perfect for a usable street/DE car! Even better, it was local (down in Ruxton, for those of you who know Baltimore). Here's a couple of pics:  This one is from the purchase transaction earlier this month. Previous owner Katherine and my friend Paul--enabler of all automotive hijinx--are shown with the 911. PO's '98 Carrera S is under cover in the background.  Same caption applies here...  Here's my Carrera at the moment, front end up on jackstands and sans gas tank. The tank is at Looper's in Rockville getting refurbished after I found a pinhole leak behind the undercoating. Anyway--I've enjoyed this community so far, and I look forward to meeting some of you and hopefully getting out for some fun runs and DE events soon! Tim

Welcome and nice intro. Looks like the wheels are 7s & 7s? Is the car stock? Need to come out to the next PCA breakfast in MD or VA. Lots here hang at those too. Don't forget to download a manual.
