I really, really, really dislike the concept of DRS. To give an advantage to a trailing car to me is just ludicrous. Making it available only to the trailing car, in 1 location, and only when within a second of the lead car only makes it moreso. Rather than addressing the issue of tracks that are too tight and twisty resulting in only 1 line, aggressive drivers who push someone off track when their nose is sligthly ahead, and cars that are faster than they used to be when the tracks were designed due to aero advancements, the FIA invents a gimmick like this. I'd rather they restrict the total surface area of front and rear wings to make them less aero-dependent and let the drivers drive.

seems my understanding of how the system is supposed to work is right and Alonso's flappy blinds were a SNAFU. I wonder if the Ferrari pedal is just the gas pedal fully depressed.

what about penalizing the drivers who ended up in the wrong pit?
i know in this case it cost that person the position, but strategicaly, someone could sacrafice themselves for their team mate and "accidently" delay their opponent by stopping in the wrong pit area and blocking the opponent from his pit.

I like the DRS because it gives the driver the best of both worlds; downforce in the corners, but less for extra speed on the straights. But I agree, the whole "rules" process is ludricrous. I say let the drivers decide where and when they want to use it, like the KERS. This way you get 2 drivers racing far too deep into the braking zone such that neither makes the turn.

KERS is also growing on me. I like to see F1 advance technology and I like the idea of hybrid power being a performance item getting better through sport.

Alonsette uses DRS well outside the allowed region = FIA systems failure.
Massa crosses the pit exit blend line - "Sorry, must have missed that bit" Typical FIA = Ferrari Intentional Assistance. Quote:
Still, there got to be SOME crossover I guess.

OK, before my father Kurt comes on here to chastise me let me say, bring back CanAm. Unlimited cars with few rules. The FIA is killing racing with some of their asinine restrictions. All this "we have to be green to be relevant" is bullcrap. People aren't into racing because it's green, they're into it because it's is fun and exciting, it's not relevant to anything other than that. OK, automotive technological development too by pushing the boundaries of engineering and physics, but I hope Bernie dies soon and they get a true racer in charge of the show instead of a money hungry PT Barnum.

Not F1 ... but did you see the Long Beach ALMS race? Now THAT was racing.
