Yes.. Blueprinted motors are carefully balanced. Careful matching and machining of parts used in the rebuild process has been my understanding. They are the motors in the ads that say "$30K spent on motor rebuild".. and you wonder.. why spend so much for a "stock" class rebuild.

Just curious.. since you seem like a responsible, planning type person, how come you haven't formulated the list/budget and costs? (or have you and decided to ignore it and just follow your passion )

the goal of your first race weekend should be to just to finish. DNFs suck. don't worry about winning or even being mid-pack until you've seasoned yourself a little bit. just remember DFL is still better than a DE...

Blueprinting is simply cataloguing the parts included, which normally means that the parts selected were from a common batch and therefore more likely to be of equal weight and spec. Thats not the understanding of blueprinting that I was taught. My understanding is that all tolerences are set to exact standards. Lets say that something can be 3 to 5 thousands and 3.5 is dead nuts spot on. Blueprinting is to set to 3.5 not just in the factory "build well but still make a profit" range set. Things like low friction piston rings that smoke on startup nd consume oil at rates that would fail for street driving have less pumping loss are legal. Another of many tricks is to take 10 or 20 intake runners and flow bench test them all. Manufacturing tolerences for stock factor built motors are often wide enough that some will flow a little better than others. Test many, use the best ones. All are stock and not cut or machined so they are legal just a little bit more legal. Same for heads and many other things. Compression ratio is set to a max in clas or motor type. Set all cylenders to the max CR via legal means. leaving out a seal ring or mesuring 100 of them and finding the thin ones. Some racers take things to the point of using super thin oil or even ATF in gearboxes. The box lasts a race at best but there is less HP sapping friction and windage.

WOW...I have not had a chance to get past the headlines for a couple of days and Dr. K is building a race car. well, I read the whole thread and all I can say is that you better memorized the rule book before you end up in a two letter class

Of course, you have already made your biggest mistake by building a car in a public forum. Race cars are built in dark corners by people who do not talk to anyone. Remember that anyone can complaint about the legality of your car and some will no matter where you are running.

Based on your comments bashing the sunroof rule, I bet your second mistake is that you have not even looked at the rule book. The rule book says either complete sunroof or no sunroof which means solid sheet metal. Of course there are always exceptions. You can only qualify for those if you ask the right questions, so memorize the rule book.

Also make sure that any body panel you put on your car belongs to that model and year. Scott has given you a good list. You also need to buy data acquisition and spend some time reading TD's (may he rest in peace) old notes on how to analyze data.

Finally, good luck. It is nice to have another E car on Dorkie. Just do not screw it up and end up somewhere you do not want to be. Finally, if you plan on doing this on the cheap ala a DE car, do not waist your money. Once the red mist starts to flow, the engine sees a few more hundred RPMs before shifting, you jam the trans in gear as you try to jump out of the corner and you find out that things tear up a lot more frequently.

I've already started a dialogue with the scrut/tech team, and will keep myself in stock, whatever it takes. Even remounting the seats to the floor, leaving the full sunroof in is not an option as I won't fit in the car with it.

Got a G2X late last spring from OG Racing. Just scratching the surface learning about my data so far...
