Good advice but I be that most tickets are on local roads.

Red lining next to a cop or cutting one off is a good way to draw unwanted attention regardless of who you are or what you drive.

BTW what was the cop thinking? When is a Porsche good in a drag race compared to the average American muscle car? I have been in used $5000 US cars that will smoke most P cars in a drag race. God help you when the road curves...

This reminds me of 1978. I grew up in the classic Speilberg movie type suburbia and that summer I was pulled over and had the car tossed 3 times in two months. After the third time I was pulled over and the cops found nothing (what can I say, it was a slow summer) I asked the cop what made him and his two Komrads think I was a doper. He fessed up that the local rock radio station bumper sticker I had on the back was a "profile" that worked for them.
After he was done and was letting me go without any ticket as he had nothing to write one for, I pulled the bumper sticker off and told him I would keep it at home on my bong instead.

Travis, he certainly had probable cause for putting me through the tests. He said he smelled alcohol on me. I didn't have that taste in my mouth and it had been a few hours, but I had been drinking with dinner. If I had gotten nailed for something more serious, I would have wanted to dispute his cause for stopping me, as I was not speeding - just accelerating fast. That was no time to be giving the cop any attitude or signs of disapproval.

Rick, I agree with your assessment!

Sam, decent advice for the highway. A couple to add to your list:
1. Stay in the right lane when not passing
2. Watch for tail lights on vehicles several hundred feet in front of you
3. You rarely get ticketed staying 9 or below the speed limit
4. Don't speed
5. When asked the first question every cop asks "do you know why I pulled you over", don't respond:
a. "yes, I was speeding officer"
b. "yes, my drivers license is suspended and I'm wanted by the IRS
b. "yes, I was drinking"
c. "yes, the car is stolen and I have my ex-wife's dead body parts in the trunk"

How I look at it, she is like a girl that has been in abusive relationships where the PO's didn't dedicate enough time, attention, and love to such a beautiful girl. So naturally she will have certain trust issues at first, but I think we both can agree that we are over that.
Yeah but aren't you the one forcing her to lose some weight and start dressing nicer (new wing, paint job)?
:P

LMAO

Steve, she is begging me to bring the youth back to her. Why fight it! Plus, losing weight has proven to contribute to a healthier life.

For the record, I had absolutely no idea that was a cop driving alongside of me the whole time - further evidence that I had no intent to race, or I would have started it long before the intersection where he got me.

Back when I had my 67S, I was in the far right lane at the traffic light patiently waiting for the green. Just ahead of this intersection the road narrowed down to two lanes. What I didn't notice was the impatient lady driving a new mustang GT in the left lane who was bound and determined to be in front of me before the lanes narrowed. God forbid that she would have to merge behind this Volkswagen looking thing.
When the light changed I thought I heard her spin her wheels but I took off as normal. Alas the '67S was much lighter so I made it to the merge before her with little or no effort .
What I failed to see in all of this, was the cop right behind me watching her hormonal rush. He immediately pulled her over told her to wait and went to look for me. I pulled into my housing complex went inside and watched through the blinds as the cop pulled up in front of my unit with the lights on for what seemed like 10 minutes.

Eventually I went outside with the "what can I do for you routine". He said relax...I saw the whole thing, I know she was trying to cut you off and you had the right of way. He went on to say that "I could impound your car for drag racing. When you spin your tires it is also ticketable as a show of power".

Anyways he asked me "what year?", we talked for a minute or two and then he let me go, headed with obvious determination back to the lady in the mustang. He said that he was going to teach her a lesson.

I guess it's a good thing that he didn't notice the plateless "s" front spoiler.
