Not an expert on this but IMSA and Grand Am do not allow ABS in the 997 platforms. Not sure about World Challenge. I think it's an option used in Carrera Cup overseas. Pretty sure it's not allow in PCA. 996 it's standard

Yes it will fix it, as you are no longer using the stock ABS

997 Cups do not come with, nor as an option from factory have ABS. Depending on sanctioning body, it can be added. Usually it is either the Teves or Bosche M4. 996 cups came with ABS (Porsche Motorsports), but it is non CAN. New 991 Cups have ABS again.

So basically, the OEM street version is overwhelmed with too many systems, that are not easy to turn off. Did this begin with the 997 versions? Or did the 996's suffer too? I've never heard GoodHands complain about "ice mode".
Yes, very prevent in 997, although therre have been one or complaints in 9096, but seams to be the later ones.

997 Cups have ABS as an option so you can configure it if the racing series allows it, such as Grand Am, its $20K option check box on the order form.

Quote from guy at BGB racing...

Quote:
We ran the OEM ABS at Daytona twice without issue. None of the drivers felt the rock hard pedal with our 997s prior to switching to the Grand-Am permitted alternate ABS, but really only ran it with the OEM ABS for two weekends. After that we went to the aftermarket Teves system that was allowed. I have to say that when we ran the 996 in 2004-2006, we never had any issues. It wasn't until Darren Law or maybe Brian Cunningham crashed a 997 heavily at LRP that we all were given an alternate system. The recurring complaint was that the pedal would go rock hard and not stop the car. A similar thing happened to Spencer Pumpelly at Laguna the race before.

Grand AM does not allow ABS in CUP cars! They were allowed to run in 997 street modified cars.

A lot of this has to do with driver's skill and being one with the car.

Wow...its fascinating to me that Porsche somehow allowed these cars to go racing with such a dirty little deficiency. Its surprises me that they didn't deal with it during internal test track miles. Or maybe they did discover the problem...and didn't care.

I think they said that your model car doesn't have all the bs necessary to make it a problem. Your welcome.
