Guess I'm ambivalent on the new design. Seems OK with good and bad points.
I do like the center console because not only does it give it a more upscale look (unlike the minimalist look of the 996s & 7s; let's face it, the 911 is morphing from a sports car into a GT car), but I think it's longer but narrower shape will hopefully provide more knee room for tall drivers like me (when I can afford a used one in 20 years). Please don't tell me, though, that Porsche is sticking w/ thumb-actuated shifters unlike everyone else in the industry. And what's w/ that cheesy looking 'PDK' emblem above the steering wheel? Also on the interior, I really wish Audi would exert more influence on interior materials and colors. I'm still not digging the monochromatic dash/door/console/steering wheel/seats/carpet designs of the last several years. To me the colors of the various materials are always a shade or 2 different and impart a cheap look. I can see the stretched wheelbase helping the racing program through better chassis balance.

don't like the back... the deck-lid is a little "let's shrink down the deck lid from a murcielago!"

The thing that sticks out to me everytime I see this is the big gap between the door and rear wheelwell. I get making room for the hybrid bits but it just doesnt look right to me.
On a positive note, seeing the 991 really makes me like the 997. I'm not sure if the bar has been lowered or if I am just coming around to these new water pumpers. Whatever the case, I really like the 997 now. Now, just need to save my shekels.

x2. But nothing to worry about. Porsche gets the styling right only every other body redesign

I hold judgement until I see the cabriolet in real life.
Lighter, more powerful, lower, if it was just shorter...

The 991 will keep 993 values on the ascent.
