Talking with them, listening to them play, hearing their philosophy about music and teaching . . .

The one guy I am very interested in is a semi-famous Spanish classical guitar player.

I am sure I will eventually get both types. I just need to get one to use for lessons in the beginning. You know, start crawling (again) before I run (again).

Besides, the hunt and learning is part of the fun . . .

Thanks for the offer regarding your guitar. I will take you up on it after I return from Hawaii and then Panama.

why the interview process. just call one up and take a lesson. pay as you go. if you like em take another lesson. or you can call up a different one and take a lesson. each one will teach you something. handful of chords, a new scale or an interesting riff, a little song. you'll find one you like and stick with them.

taking a guitar lesson is not like taking a new job. (i'm having a third callback interview with this particular instructor candidate, it looks promising.... if all goes well i'll probably take a lesson with this one) it's less serious than dating. it's not even as serious as asking your sister's friend for a dance at your brother's wedding. (i like this song, but before we dance i have a few pages of questions to ask you.....)

Aaaahhhhhhh. Look. That is exactly what I am doing. Inteview/test/whatever. I want to meet them and talk to them, including about choice of guitar for learning, before I decide which teacher to go with, which will then influence which type of guitar I get. Capice?

not really. a high quality beautiful sounding guitar can be a pleasure to play. there are a lot of high quality guitars. in the end a guitar is just a tool. you play one, you can play the other, and if you do play you'll want a bunch of different ones for different moods and occassions and types of playing. just like you want a different wine for different occasions or a different cigar depending on your mood. just like a skilled wood carver won't have a single knife or chisel or plane. monogamy is for wives, not guitars or even guitar istructors.

Yes, I know, I am certain I will end up with multiple guitars, but I need to start with just one
