Well said by a man who obviously has lots of experience traveling down the wrong path

I dono. I was a bit too close to a rather harsh one way conversation on Sunday and think a bit of extra snark is in order.

Hey Gunther, wish I would have meet you at the track. I wanted to say hello after your run-off but couldn't find you. Nice job going strait off when you knew you had a problem. I was surprised you weren't able to stop in time. It looked to me like you had applied the brakes early enough (did your brakes fade near the end of your run?). No issue with the distraction of course. I just thought it was interesting how easy it was for me to loose focus on my line when I started watching you to insure we didn't run into each other. Another example of "you drive where you look"!

Look forward to meeting you at the next event,

John

Interesting. Sounds like it may have been the same incident two others have mentioned to me. Since I don't race, I know I am not qualified to loudly and publically berate drovers who don't do what I *think* they should do when they are in front of me. And I always thought the side a pass was to occur on was dictated by the car giving the passing signal, and not by where the follower wants it to be...

That is exactly what the club's open passing rules state [without the reference to anything the driver receiving the pass might like or prefer, of course].

Not snarky just trying to find the all of the little bits to put the car back together after the tow truck mishap

Thanks for the advice David. We'll no one ever accused me of being patient (at anything) and I do tend to enter early (I'm working on that) but I'm curious what turns your referring to. Turns 5 and 6? That's my typical line. I learned from a few instructors (although I do sometimes go mid-track more in #6). I can see that I was a little early in 7 and 8 though. I've been struggling finding a good 2nd-to-3rd shift point around turn 7. Was shifting before 7 at a prior event and switched to after last week.

I'll try to get that song in my head at the next event!
Late here but I like kicking a dead Cayman

The reason it looks early in turn 6 is becaause you are not far enough track left for that turn. Your approach makes turn in angle wrong (?). That was the start of your mishap in turn 9.

If you shift into 2nd at turn 5, you can carry 2nd through and shift in the straight between 8-9.

Thanks. I'll try that next time. I do go down to 2nd into 5 but I think I'm near redline at 8 but I'll try that next time. That would be a better shift point.
