I had an incident right after high school with an idiot in a sports car of some sort that passed me on Foxhall road in DC during the one lane part with oncoming traffic. Probably one of the more dangerous moves you can make. I came up next to him on the left when it opened to two lanes and he started yelling for no reason. I flicked him off and floored it and he kept parallel to me until we crossed over Reservoir. He didn't notice the parked cars and ran into the back of a Mercedes full speed.

I'm not sure there is a moral to this story, but it certainly made it clear to me to always have an out. Also, don't pick fights with idiots, they don't know when they've lost.

I was driving south on I-95 in Northern MD once when we hit a really, really bad rain squall - the kind where you only have 40-50 feet of visibility. Being the semi-responsible person I am, I got in the right lane and slowed down to about 45MPH. Some jackass in a Volvo with kids must have been in a hurry to make it to Chuck-E-Cheese, and proceeds to come up onto me in the right lane at about 90MPH (it was the most open lane, since most people don't grasp the whole "passing lane" concept) and proceed to pass me, on the right gravel shoulder of I-95, doing about 90 in a Volvo with 2 kids, fishtailing. I guess that's what they mean by "safe car"

People suck. 'Nuff said.

Ok, one more. In Bethesda/Chevy Chase, where Willard Ave. dumps on to River Rd., the right hand, right turn lane on Willard backs up during rush hour. This day it was worse than usual because River was also backed up, so only a few cars got through each rotation of the light. I'm waiting and waiting. Finally I'm the second car back from River and notice that while the right lane on River isn't moving, there is room in the second lane for about 6 cars. I pull out and around the woman in front of me (who is too busy on the phone to notice the available space in the second lane) and pull up into the second lane. She gives me a dirty look but four or five more drivers follow me. Once on River her lane moves ahead and as she passes me (10-15 mph) she looks over at me and shakes her head in disapproval. Before I could signal to her that she was No. 1, boom bang tinkle tinkle, she crashes into the rear of the car ahead. She looked back at me in anger as I LMAO and mosied on home.

That's funny Jim.

Fail to all the people with parking lights on in the fog this morning. Like I'm actually going to see those small dim yellow lights throught the fog before I see the rest of the car. Turn on your headlights!

My boss was driving a BIG box truck down 95 with me riding shotgun at about 1:00 AM. South of Philly construction has only one lane open. There is a on ramp entering from the right. Nice and civilized one car from 95, one from the ramp, one from 95, one from the ramp. My boss lets one car in and is timed to pull right behind that car. An arrogant lady flaps her hand out the window as if to say "you hold on!" (with amazingly long finger nails BTW) and tries to slip in as the 2nd car from the ramp. Without changing anything like braking or steering my boss asks "what is she trying to do?" and proceeds to grind down the side of her car with the large Ben-Hur style lugnuts on our truck's front right wheel. I hang out the window to make sure I don't miss any of the fun while she has now lodged firmly in the traffic barrels. You could see the hole car bounce as she threw a tantrum in the car. Since stopping would have brought all of I95 South to a complete stop, I suggested to my boss that we continue on.

Bob:

What is the name of your company? Are there any distinguishing graphics on your trucks?

A female pulled out in a RAV4 from a parking lot on the left and sat perpendicular to the south bound lanes waiting for traffic to move so she could pull into the northbound lanes. She was perpendicular to the truck in front of me. While waiting a fire truck came southbound with lights lit and horn blaring. She did not back up into the parking lot. She continued to wait. When northbound traffic started to move, I plastered my truck inches from the truck in front of me and smiled at her as I went by. The person behind me let her in. She raced up my right side and slid infront of of me in the gap that was now between me and the truck in front of me, and she nailed her brakes. Knowing there was no way I could stop a van in time, I never touched the brake and passed her on the right and then pulled back into the left lane as she tried to accelerate to block me. She then tried to pass me on the left in the oncoming traffic lanes but I was again on the bumper of the truck in front of me so she could not pull back into the northbound lanes. Uh oh! now there is southbound traffic heading toward her so she nails the brakes to pull back behind me but she cuts it too close and catches her bumper on our big iron truck bumper removing the whole front of her vehicle. She followed us for a while with the whole front fascia flapping and my boss wanted me to brake check her now but she finally realized she lost and pulled over. We were called by a lawyer but we kept asking him to explain how damage to the front of her car was not her fault. Nothing ever came of it. Some drivers think they are ready for Varsity but are simply at the Fresh-Soph level.
