A few more things to add to the list.

Installed the antenna and the tank door pull.

Fitted the tank door

Made some new door cards. I will install RS America door panels and hardware for now, since the pockets are not very nice. This give me time to think about what to do with the pockets and that stuff. I also like the clean look of these panels.

I laso made new cards for the rear side panels, they were a bit tired.

New vinyl.

Also started to install some interior.

A lot more work to do.

Cheers
Engelbert

I'd be interested in where you get a lot of your parts? Especially the seat foam and covers. I have a '71t that I'll be starting to refresh later in the summer. Rebuild the seat ~15 years ago or so but kept the original foam. Also would be ver interested in you polishing technique for the hinges. Our '71s look ok but I have some '69 seats that could use some love.

The foam and seat covers I got from http://www.khupholstery.com

The hinges were actually in good shape, just dirty, and it looked like rust pits. But after get the layer of dirt of and polished them with mag polish, they came out nice.

A few more things done.

Cleaning the old glue from interior trim pieces.

Cutting new vinyl pieces

Clean up the door locks.

Got the headliner in with the clips. I want it to hang in there for a while so the wrinkles can stretch out.

Started with the door window frames and glass.

Cheers
Engelbert

If you lived anywhere near me, I'd be spending a lot of time in your garage watching you do this stuff. Amazing! I am so jealous (and impressed).

I was going back through this for inspiration. my wheel wells have some kind of coating over the paint. Is that something likely added by someone or did they come from factory that way? I am not going to paint my car as you have but after I clean the area, what do you recommend covering with, or is it best to leave it as is? Thoughts appreciated.

It's likely a rubber like under coating. No easy way to remove. Though I.ve found hitting with some flame from a tourch till it starts to bubble makes scrapping pealing it off easier

I have quite a few spray cans of 3M rubberized coating in black left over. Used maybe an eighth of a can to do the inside of the rear shock towers. Looks OE.

I also have some of the 3M sealant in beige that seems to match the OE stuff as well for panel joints and corners.

And yes, a little welding on the backside does a nice job creating a smoldering, flaming, sooty mess
