I still need to address the over-revving on 1, 5, 9 and 10, but one step at a time.

I had a few 127's, which is a respectable number for a slow little girlie car.

Speedometers on the older Porsches, as has been mentioned here, often read 10% or more over actual speed (meaning 143 on the speedo would really be 129). I suspect that is your case, esp. with a 951 and running laps in the 1:32s. BTW, in green you are a little early to be measuring lap times - going faster is a matter of learning slower (says the guy who never broke 1:40 when in the green group--or probably blue group either... PCA used to have time trials then).

As a reference I do 1:19s or so and only see about 135 mph at the end of the front straight (Speed via GPS).

My first instructor was taking lap times from the right seat. (Via sundial) Don't think looking at lap times maters all that much ether way if your mind is in the right place with regards to safety and learning.

Good points on learning vs lap times, particularly in Green.

But VG, FWIW, I'm not sure your lap time and trap speed are indicative of a normal car's ratio. I've done almost 130mph in our Boxster on the front straight, but am probably running around mid to high 1:20's. Your car IS A FRIGGIN' ANIMAL in the corners!

My 944 speed is WAY off with the 225/50 RA-1's on. Somehow in my mind I pretend it's accurate at the track, yet way optimistic on the ride home.

Thanks for the feedback. If I may, please allow me to offer a polite justification for my methodology -- I definitely welcome your thoughts:

1) I have much to learn in the ways of driving cars, and I certainly do not pretend to be anywhere near as competent a driver as those of you in Black/Red.
2) This is not my first rodeo. Yes, it was my first time at SP, but when I lived in AZ I was doing ~5-6 DE's per year, plus again-as-many autocrosses. And yes, it was my first time doing a legit DE in about three years...and boy -- the cobwebs were thick!
3) I was timing my laps not in an effort to see what my absolute best time would be (I was well aware of its futility). Note that in a previous post I mentioned I was even making a concerted effort to lift on the front straight. Timing my laps was to provide an additional metric to determine my consistency in the twisty bits as I was learning the new track. Especially when learning a new track, it's sometimes tough to identify where changes in your line are actually helping vs. hurting.
4) I've actually calibrated my speedo against GPS, so I'm pretty confident it was reading relatively accurately (i.e., +- 5 mph). Regardless, it doesn't matter. I was merely pointing out I already have a good idea where I can shave off additional time -- breaking 1:30 is my next goal.

I definitely appreciate your feedback + thoughts, and am fully aware that I'm the new guy talking to a group of very experienced racers. Just wanted to provide y'all with a bit of context. Definitely hope to ride with each of you in the future.

Excited to go back!

Collin, don't take Dr. K's comments as personal. Dr. K spends much of the day staring down people's a##holes so once in a while it rubs off on him
