Didn't realize the address--let me put in a plug for Sloan, too. Great guy, who has always been helpful at the track even though I'm not his client! This is a great area to own a Porsche!

Tell us about your 930! What engine/exhaust mods are installed? Do you have a WBO2 gauge in the car? What are your plans for ignition tweaking? These cars respond nicely to mods. Be careful though... a little goes a long way!

I have experience with three of those mentioned; SSI, Behe, and Frank Smith. My recommendation depends on just exactly what you are looking for. I didn't realize Sloan no longer had his dyno so that option is out. Between the two of Behe and FST, if your car is in tip top shape and you want a custom tune, FST would be my first choice. His dyno is a drive on and is state of the art and is amazing and he knows how to use it. If you are just looking for data he will probably be the cheapest. He can also burn a chip that will get the most out of your car depending on what you want it to do. On our n/a 944 he was able to get a nice flat torque curve and move the bump around in our torque curve and get it just where we wanted it. I am impressed with the HP/TQ we are getting out of that car. Keep in mind I did all of the mechanical changes/upgrades myself prior to the tune. If you feel the car may have some mechanical issues that may need addressed, Behe may be the better choice. I feel he can diagnose and deal with some of the component related issues and get your car running properly before tuning if that is what you want. But it won't be cheap. I haven't been to John's new shop but his dyno was directly bolted to the axles and not as sophisticated as FST's dyno. Either way, you should come away with a better running car as long as everything is working properly. Spending money on a dyno run with a motor that is not up to par is just throwing it away.

Also, while we are on the subject of dynos, I have had cars on 5 different dynos and they all read different. NASA for example specifies the type of dyno and settings of the machine to be used in GTS and requires actual readings every 500 rpm for declared HP/TQ. Whether it be the scaling used, type of dyno, weather conditions, weighting, etc. don't be surprised if results are not what you expect whether good or bad. I feel some of these guys use a scale that produce numbers that make it look like they are true miracle workers. It's good for business....

What's state of the art about it?....reads hp/tq right...hehe I have been using Behe for a while and thought his was pretty nice...he definately can burn any chip for you and his service is a uprisingly reasonable..and will talk you through what you actually need...he takes care of my excursion and sisters f250 diesel as well.... As Steve said all dynos read slightly different ...and most of what Steve says is great advice

However, there is of course room for improvement once I can throw the car on a dyno and actually measure power levels. I never had a baseline run either so now I am looking to get the baseline and possibly just do some minor AF ratio tweaking or ignition timing tweaking between pulls to see if I can gain a few hp and call it good. Its more for my own personal knowledge to see what my engine mods yielded. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to spend hours on a dyno tuning to the last degree at $150 per hour or more.

I had tried running a MSD 6AL2 programmable ignition so I could really tailor my ignition timing and advance the timing under low loads yet really retard boost under high boost loads but never got the thing to work properly. So I have been running the stock CD ignition with mild timing for now until I get some help sorting out the MSD....anyone know an expert that can walk me thru getting the programmable MSD box to work?----NEED SOMEONE WITH EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THESE IN AN AIR COOLED 911. Tell me about your 87 turbo..... Fred
