Done. I diagnosed your problem, in bold, above. Fix that part and you'll be good.

Default Catch 22 ?

Hi there, I am new on here, I have a window problem on my 964 and found your helpful article. I have checked the switches and wiring using it. So power and switches seems to be ok and the motor is hot all the time which I guess is wrong. My problem is that I read that the window should be lowered half way to take the motor out. As the motor doesn't work I thought that I could wind it down using the tool in the tool kit but it just turns in the hole for it without engaging or moving the window mechanism, the hole is just a hole not like an Allen socket. Can the motor be removed without lowering the window? Thanks. Neil
