Well, our car didn't fare much better than last year's Capitol Offense....we got in 48 laps instead of 47.
Engine lost compression in 3 out of 5 cylinders after about 3 hours... at least we didn't throw a rod this time. There's something about the Shenandoah Circuit that doesn't agree with finely-aged FWD 5-cylinder engines.... oil supply issues, or something? Last year's engine had over 200k on it, this year's only had 160k, but we ran it pretty hard for 24 hours in FL back in January.

Overall another successful LeMons weekend for us. The car has a few new battle scars from the weekend's action, but overall it ran strong and shows no signs of slowing down.
Our only real issue (other than the chunked front right tire, which Lane mentioned) was a very small water leak. One of the previously mentioned "battle scars" not only left a nice new dent in the fender, but must have also tweaked the custom made (from old bed frame scraps) radiator/fan mount. Turns out that one of the fans had started barely making contact with a coolant hose, ultimately resulting in a pin-hole leak. Fortunately, this problem never manifested itself on track. We discovered it during a driver change with about an hour left to run on Saturday, so we parked the car for the remainder of the day. Andy C. had recently arrived as a spectator (scheduling conflict kept him out of the drover's seat this weekend) and before we knew it, he was replacing the hose with a spare we had on hand, proving that you just can't keep that guy away from a broken 944. Sunday morning I put water back in the car, bled the system, and we ran strong for 4.5 more hours until the checkered. Many thanks to Lane and Bakin for droving for us and making our team look good out on the track. And thanks to Andy for helping to keep the car running when he thought he'd just come out and watch some of the race.
