TR,
Regarding shocks, you may want to contact these guys for some advice/opinions:

Hagerstown Spring Works Co Inc‎
437 East Baltimore Street,
Hagerstown, MD 21740-6105
(301) 797-1859‎

I used them to freshen up the suspension on my 15-passenger 2000 Ford E350 Vanpool, when it had around 150K miles. These guys know their truck stuff! They service a lot of fleet vehicles, including construction and ambulances. The shop looks like a throwback to the 1950's. But their pricing was very reasonable (about 3 years ago for my Van). They added a leaf to my rear springs, added airbags to the front coil springs, and put new shocks all around. The ride was transformed, and is still pretty good today (just went over 202K miles).

They can probably make some good recommendations about shocks to consider, based upon how your truck is used.

OEMs are usually rebranded crap. DR, forgot your truck was only 2wd. Might as well just get some Monroes.

Seriously, 4WD truck to tow my track car back and fourth to the track???
Only posers need that kind of affirmation!
Next thing I know you’ll be trying to convince me to buy my lap times with a GT3RS of TT

Posers You and Dr. A$$finger just don't get what joy towing is when you go big. Boy-O. When it comes to towing, Go big or stay home.
