The other car is close enough that you can hear a light 'thud' as I'm spinning. That was my rear quarter panel hitting his. Turns out the contact was light enough that it didn't dent his car (thus, no 13/13).

So, looks like I'm out of the SP race as my remaining racing budget will go toward body repairs.
Sorry to see/hear about the enduro incident. Was that Vinny next to you?

As far as the damage.....c'mon.....that's not too bad. 30 minutes with a BFH and you've got a perfectly acceptable 50-foot'r, IMHO.

If I was you, I would still do the Potomac Club Race, and save the "remaining" body work for a winter project. Besides, it's no longer your DD, so why the hell do you want to dump a lot of money into cosmetic bodywork BS for what's now a dedicated track/race car!

So suck it up, grow a pair, stop thinking concourse prize, and get your arse out there in October!

Jerome, sorry to see/hear about your dent. IMO, if you have access to the inside of that fender (as in, if its not double walled) then its an easy fix. I developed quite a bit of hammer/dolly exp doing the bodywork on the 911 and then later the racecars, the wifes car, etc. I can prob come over & demonstrate sometime if you like. Though, you dent is large and not creased. I'd be VERY tempted to try and push it out gently w/o doing more damage to save detail work later. Don't go at it w/ a BFH just yet

And Tonys right. Push it out and go racing again

This from the guy who bought TD's car (granted, after the body work was done...).

Nope, actually an SP1 car (I was surprised how well it pulled out of the fast turn) and I'm still trying to figure out why he wanted to race me for multiple corners. I thought about taking him deep, but considering how aggressive he was I didn't want to risk not having my bumper ahead at the turn-in point and having a metal-to-metal, which would have been my fault.

Tony, you're chastizing me for wantin a concourse car?? You've seen it. It should be obvious that I don't car too much about appearance. Yes, I think that was Vinny V. next to me. Know him??

I'll see how pushing out the rear quarter works. Access should be decent except for the part just aft of the door. I got some experience hanging front fenders after the deer incident so that should go quickly... Then again, I might just try to pull it out at home to save the cost of painting a different fender.

Go for it!! Do the PCAP. If nuth'n else you can get a big "bandage" decal over it and make people smile!!! Besides would suck to miss the CR and ball the car at the next one after throwing $$$ at it!! Good seeing you at the Fest too.

Now you're talkin! This car has long lost it's virginity....start treating it as such. As far as paint......PepBoys has DupliColor in many colors. An extra can in the parts box is handy.

Vinny, in the dark green 924 can be a very effective defensive driver. I wouldn't call him dangerous, but is a very agressive driver. I made the mistake once of letting him get around me at one event, and then I found I couldn't make a safe pass back on him, despite that he was slowing me by over a second. To his credit, in the last turn of our Thunderbolt NASA race last year, in the pouring rain(!), I and a couple of others had to slow suddenly when someone spun just ahead of us. Instead of running into the back of me, Vinny went off-road and got stuck in the wet grass.

Jerome,

I like Tony's thinking. Those Fing Greek know what looks good, just look at Athens

Bring it out for SP CR. I paid $2.5K to fix some minor dents on my car and repaint it. Within a week of being home, carolyn backs inot the side that was just fixed and puts a big dent in it. I was inexperienced and went too heavy handed with the hammer and cracked the paint. I am holding the paint on wih stickers.

An alternative to bangging it out is that on the way to VIR, I can come by hit the other side with the dually to match the dents and you can claim it was an special edition race car.

There's a reason the rules say...."appearance must look acceptable from 50 feet at 50mph"....or somesuch.
