Someday, I might find a set of the the endplates and go at this again. One huge benifit of grinding the ears off and making a mounting block is that it will be so much easier to remove and replace, instead of messing with that one bolt burried up in the trailing arm netherlands! Whoever machined mine didn't do a very precise job and this would also be a candidate for improvement. The clearences at the edge of the rotors are extreemly close.

one of the cool things about 993's is that they come from the factory with 993 brakes.

Well, I made my decision on how to do it. Theres no going back now
Bill, The calipers will still be a minor pain to remove. The VCI adapter taps the caliper body and the bolts come up from the bottom - not down from the top like the fronts. There really isn't room to counterbore a hole from the top (the bridge bolts kinda get in the way.) I'm planning on the same way.

Looking Good!
After a lot of research, I found that my calipers came from a 928. The tube connection on the fronts were bottomless. This means that it is a banjo type fitting. The 928 used flex line all the way to the caliper so I don't have to break any lines if I have to service the hub bearings or rotors. Easy Peasy! Maybe there is a way to do this on your setup front and rear. On my rears, I was able to reform the stock 911 rear tubes to make them work. I had already bought the new tubes etc. But they ended up being too long so I tried this and it worked fine. A flex line that was about 6" longer than the stock flex line would be perfect! Too bad you can't bolt the calipers from above like on the fronts.
