I'm planning a marathon day in December (possibly in Richmond or possibly here) to put the race car together. I'd really appreciate all the help I can get for this.

Currently, it is a straight frame with cage and a driver's seat, suspension (sway bars are off the car or at least the rear bar is off) and wiring. LOTS of wiring, much of which needs to be removed. It will need the following:

• Install engine wiring and Motronic (will probably install BEHIND front seat)
• Install transmission and engine (probably will actually be done in January)
• Complete suspension - rear sway will require removing old mounts and welding on the WeVo ones - hope to do the first part this day and leave welding for later unless someone with near-VG-like skills will be available...
• Install Windshield, rear quarter windows, rear window
• Remove excess wiring (would like to move battery to smuggler's box but that will probably have to wait)
• Fit and install bumpers
• Install mirrors
• Remove any remaining soundproofing
• Paint interior
• Install millions of little items everywhere

Would be pleased to have you help (and learn). Tools provided.

You're welcome to hang out for 26.2 days so long as we do it in Richmond. If we do it at my house, you'd need to sleep in the garage...

So you need people to commit to help you for a day sometime in December at a location that is either here or in Richmond. With such firm plans like that, it should be no problem getting help.

I would prioritize your list into "must do" and "like to do" and then reset on asking for assistance with a date (or two suggested).

Definitely maybe, unless it's on one of those days I'm busy.

Need to see when the body work is finished, and whether there's snow (ski patrol commitment if there's snow). If done before Christmas and no snow, it will either be 12/11, 12/12, 12/19, or 12/20. If there IS snow, I'll need to come back from the in-laws early (MAJOR husbanding point loss) after Christmas and go down 12/27. If not done before Christmas, we're talking January... I'll let people know, but may turn out to take 1 day to go to Richmond (and maybe a few hours of putting things on the car), bring the car up, and a different weekend do the rest (or as much as possible). Hope to get the engine and transmission in in late January/Early February and run it a bit, but I know (from my own experience and that of others) not to expect things to go as planned...

that seems like a lot to do in one day. even with a lot of people.

you should contact the producers of that show where they take some guy's old beat up jalopy and redo it entirely in a single episode. maybe they could give you some pointers on how to proceed.
