impossible. anyone that even knows what a fashionable shoe is (no, not the latest release from a new nike-endorsed h.s. graduate on espn) would be loathe to combine that with a plastic lion. but it *is* quite clever since this way you know your hood ornament will never end up on some rapper's gold chain

Couldn't have been mine. Why, you ask? Because it's still sitting at the #$^& body shop waiting for parts to arrive from Germany. Rear qtr panel arrived dented so they sent it back, now waiting for another one. Maybe I'll have it back by Spring.

I know (or at least have seen) most of the regulars with older 911s out my way. I saw a new one this morning. A blue Carerra (84/85?)...Blue somewhere between Hell Blau and Cliff "Foglight Blue". Euro rear bumper, but no fender lights. Dual exhaust...sounded sweet with the windows up in my car. Oh and a Dale Earnhardt #8 sticker in the rear window. License plate "MNICAL" or similar. Any of you?

You mean a 288 GTO, perhaps near the American Legion bridge? If so, that's the Marriott car.

Somehow, the long post that I wrote about spotting the GTO doesn'tshow up. There appeared to be some problems with the site this morning. What happened:
Nope, it was a '59 GTO, I think a 250 GTO if I remember correctly. I've only seen two before, both in museums. I pulled into my neighborhood Sunoco station this morning to gas up the truck. There sat a bright red piece of early-Italian sculpture. At first, I thought it was a replica. Nope, replied the 50ish fellow dressed in all sorts of Prancing Horse memorabilia (ditto the older fellow with him). He was very nice but appeared to be in some sort of hurry. Car had a roll cage of sorts (I didn't get long to inspect it) and I think I spotted a helmet in the hatch area. Borrani (sp?) wire wheels. Guy finishes gassing it up, gets in, turns the key -- you can then hear the fuel pumps whining -- hits the starter button and they chugged out of the station. Had '59 Virginia historic plates on it (they're white, BTW). Sweetest engine sound you could imagine. I said something to hiim about you don't see these things driven every day and he replied, "What man can build, man can fix." He's probably a dorki.
