Default Introduction: PK

Dave R says it's not too late to introduce myself:
My current 86 Gold Targa is my 2nd Porsche - I bought it 8 years ago after a 12-year hiatus. I initially had an 82 Targa (wine red metallic) that I bought in '86 and kept only 1 year due to a few speeding tickets.

I've rebuilt 2 non-Porsche engines (years ago), but am still hesitant to work on this car, although I've been learning more over the past 2 years or so.

My wife has NO interest in this car, other than how much repairs cost, but my son (whom some of you met at SC this past weekend) is now learing to drive it and has GREAT interest in this car. I work part-time as a gastroenterologist, and full time in medical information technology (electronic prescribing).

My son and I take road trips in this almost-20-year-old car, and it's held up well. Glad to be part of dorkiphus!

Good thing my new (to me) fenders are painted! Wouldn’t want to be mocked by the Dorki brethren!

Welcome Pete,
Hope to share some similar tales, tricks of these mid eighties cars. Mine is one year new to me, so I am learning all the time. Learning that it is a blast.

Pete’s comment about being a part time MD is indicative of his sense of humor and very twisted mind! I like that about him. Though his start-up company has kept him “busy” for several years we used to share “pit space” along the fence at SP 4 or 5 years ago. The vague reference to an engine rebuild was from a “missed shift” at SP during that time. I saw that his car was sporting new track wheels and tyres for last weeks DE so though his wife may not be interested, she is supportive! Pete uses his car as the good doctor intended, dividing wheel time between road and track. Some years ago he and his son made a several K road trip up through New England. Part of his preparation for the trip was to barrow my “Bentley” Carrera manual "just in case" so he’s no stranger to a flat six. At well over 6’ he requires a Targa’s head room; even with my new seats mounted to the floor he’s a poor fit in “DAS COUP”.

Welcome "CJECKERT" ...

What's your first name at least or do you like to go by "CJ"?

AND, if you do, I'll forever think of you as I do my beloved, much missed 1984 CJ-7 Jeep

You wouldn't happen to have a 931 manifold laying around would you ....? Mr. Riley is searching still ... I believe ....
