Having Nico move up to sixth in the last two laps would have taken an apocalyptic event. Not impossible, but unlikely. I was hoping for a little more drama or pressure.

Bottas was able to jump from 6th to 4th for the season, Vettel dropped to 5th.

Just wondering what the repercussions may be with Hamilton stopping on the cooling off lap to pick up the flag.

This was specifically written into the F1 rules as a big no-no.

So do they turn a blind eye? Selective enforcement?

The commentators seemed to think this was going to be a big problem for him.

Nice job Lewis & Mercedes.

*It would be petty to penalize LH for grabbing the Union Jack but ... Bernie can be a pissant.

Fun season this year! Kudo to Hammy and Mercedes. Would have like to see Nico more in the hunt this race, but mechanicals did him in. He grew up quite a bit when he went to the post race room and personally congratulated Lewis. Classy and professional.

And kudos to Riccardo and Botas for taking 3rd & 4th for the season! Those two are the next superstars IMHO.

I believe next year will be even better for all. Everyone's starting to understand the new rules, and I think Honda's going to be bringing sumthin' good!

Once they settled down with Vettel's burn out celebration back in the day, I think they were willing to soften the rules a bit for season championship celebrations. I don't think it'll ever become a per-race thing, like NASCAR.

Agreed. It would be petty for them to penalize Lewis, and in this case it would be moot anyway: Lewis would be winning the championship anyway.

And people (myself included) enjoy these types of celebrations. I was glad when Vettel did donuts and I was glad when Hami grabbed the Union Jack.

Watched the replay late last night so was stuck with NBCSports. Boy, the coverage was terrible. Most everything interesting happened during a commercial break. On two occasions the cut to break while a pass was happening on screen. I think all three announcers have to go for next year. Hobbs can barely complete a sentence anymore and Matchett has become a smiling Muppet. If Diffey got any more exited about each race I would need to start wearing a raincoat. Even Buxton has started to get so over animated you'd think the races were death matches. Surely there are some F1 experts with some modern experience that can announce? On the other hand, if NBC decided to update the show I cringe to think what they would come up with. I guess I'll leave it as is as a fake BBC coverage (including lots of ads about English football) rather than risk it!

It would be pretty funny to hear some NASCAR drovers covering it Hell, Paul Tracy would be a hoot. Maybe Tanner Faust and Paul Tracy... Maybe a Dorki Science Fiction Theater 3000 coverage of F1 is the NEXT BIG THING! Huh.... I have a teamspeak server. Who has headsets? We could talk over the coverage and be internet virus carriers...

Glad to see Hamilton win and Win. As much as I was cheering Massa it would have been almost deflating to see. Yay, Mass! oh, and congratulations to the guy that won 10 races who just squeeked out the championship because of our stupid scoring gimmick. I think if Hammy had scored something like 7th in the races he DNF'd he would already have won after Brazil. He dominated Rossberg. Riccardo and Bottas, baby!!!
