It was an awesome weekend for the city and I felt especially proud as a Baltimorean. The PorschePlatz sold out at 200 and we already told IMSA to save us 250-300 spots for next year. 115 Porsche did the Parade lap at 7AM on Saturday (IMSA was blown away that we had that many people up so early), we raffled off a hot pit tour during the race grand prize as well as a set of Michelin tires to the long distance award winner (young guy from Alabama who drove a 914 2.0). Patrick and Jorg came over on Saturday and entertained the crowd with their viewpoint of the track and qualifying results as well as taking questions from the crowd at the Platz. The race was exciting and it was a special bonus to see Porsche take the win away from BMW and Corvette.

Default No complaints from these guys

After a delay Friday to install some fencing practice was very interesting. The view from the Light Street Terrace in turn two was awesome, no jumbo monitor however the corner workers were some of the friendliest I have ever encountered. They kept us informed of the delays and the revised schedule.

Saturday the view for the ALMS race was nice in turn one. Here are a few pictures and the Collective Soul concert Saturday night was quite fun. Ran into Lane and Rob in the grandstand.

Joe (12) said it wasn't fair: dad having all the fun and I needed to bring him home some swag Saturday. A funny thing happend during the concert we located two extra, turn one tickets for he and his brother Patrick (14) for the main event on Sunday.

No complaints from these guys.

No better spot better than the Russell Street Patio on Sunday champagne, shrimp and crab cakes, only 12 feet from the track and a few other perks.

Great way to showcase Baltimore, already looking forward to next year

Oh the racing was good too!

Hmm. Baltimore could stand to leave up some permanent fencing in places

We were at the track early Friday morning to see cars on course at 8am.

Instead we got to walk on the course and observe the employees of the barrier company who were installing the crash barrier/fence.

They had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what they were doing. Every one of them was dumber then the rocks used to make the concrete.

It's a wonder they got the race started at all. Only 5 hours late.

And I believe the fences still were not installed the way they were designed to be. None of them had the top rails installed although they were riding around in big piles on the backs of flat bed trucks. I think the organizers realized the race would not go on if they had to install the top rails so they were left out.

All I can say about that is they are very luckey no one got up into the fence!

It was also disappointing to get to the track early Sunday - RACE DAY and NOT be let in the gate until 8am when cars were on course! By the time we got to our seats, that session was over.

But the biggest disappointment for me was the lack of a printed program! Yes we got the little 3 inch x 4 inch book with the Indy drivers and the course map, but it would have been nice to be able to tell who was driving the Indy Lites, the Star Mazdas and the US F2000 cars as well!

And a description of the different classes would have been nice. Or maybe even a few words about how the chicane was supposed to work, or how going to the back up car would effect your starting position.

As someone who has been a part of many races over the years, I knew most of these questions, but the folks around us in the stands were clueless. I spent a lot of time trying to explain things.

I was very impressed with Tony Kannan who took time to talk to us just minutes after returning to the garage after his crash in warm up.
