Default Hello Dorkis

I have gotten back into the PCA after 10 years off to marry, have kids and build the dream house. This year, I re-established my instructor credentials and drove DEs at my 3 favorite tracks, and Shenandoah, did the HPDE clinic and attended two club races as a spectator.

Next year I want to go club racing, with an E or F 911, or maybe a H or I 996 if I can make the budget work. Reviewing e-bay completed auctions it seems that no one is selling their 996s at the prices they are trying to get so if I can get one at the right price, I can convert it to track use for not much more than the price of a race ready 911.

I am thinking that the 996s will take over the 80's 911s in popularity for track use in the coming years and I do not want to end up in class of one, as Dwayne Moses found himself at the Summit Point race. What do you guys think? Is there anyone who has converted a 996 that can give some guidance on mods and costs to be competitive?

no idea on costs but taking a cheap 996 to make into a track whore sounds like a good idea. few have done just that w/ them.

as far as mods, anything w/ a gt3 part number would be desirable, i imagine. although i don't know how that would affect the race class of the car. i believe a third radiator up front is a 'must do' for these cars.

maybe kj will chime in, he'll have more info on this

Much easier to simply use the right tool for the job; a GT3.

G class is picking up steam if you can find a 964...

there's a race prep'd one on craigslist right now. also, on here Jose is selling his competitive NASA GTS3 car.
