Did you find that the CF Bell helmets were lighter than the other CF helmets out there? Last hat for me was CF Bell M3 and was pretty comfy even while running in 2 or more run groups per day. Would be interesting to see how the weights stack up!

Oh, to clarify. I still have the cheap, heavy Bell Helmet that I bought in preparation for my first DE at the end of 2004. You know, cheap head, cheap helmet.

You could always save a little on the actual helmet ... basic bell M2 type ... and use the extra $ for a HANS $$$ or similar device to improve your driver safety system ...

FWIW

Good call. Just checked, and although there is a HANS, ISAAC, etc. Noone has yet come up with an ELI. So below's the latest prototype. Will likely market it as a combo unit. Helmet + Brace Any beta testers???

Not that it really matters, but it'll just make me feel better about buying another helmet while I've got two others sitting in my closet.
i already tried that last season.... didn't work

Thanks for the info. After some looking, I think I'm gonna have to give up my attachment to Arai helmets...dammit! This is baffling, I woulda layed money that motorcycle helmets would require a lot more development/Gucci materials/etc.../whatever makes helmets so darn expensive. Maybe it's a matter of what the market is willing to pay - damn cheap motorcycle racers!!!

...or maybe it's damn me for not sticking to the much cheaper version of racing. ...or maybe they figure if you're already crazy enough to race motorcycles in the first place, your head can withstand a much more severe impact before people start to notice a difference in your thought process.

Is there a maximum age a helmet can be - i.e. will all helmets soon be required to be SA2005 vice SA2000? (as far as PCA is concerned.)
