Thanks for posting the pictures, it start to get real.

I see the issue with the POR15, this was overkill, and didn't help . An other lesson learned

Cheers

Very nice work all around. I like the side shot of the just right gray / black primer layers.

I found that POR-15 is great on pitted grade rusty metal but not so good on clean or even flash rust metal. It ether bonds real well or it can be flaked of in sheets. I have removed bad areas with ease using compressed air by shooting a jet at an angle against an open edge or scratching it with some 36 grit. when it does stick it seems to hold on well and it pulls into seams well. I now mostly used it as temp preservative to stop further damage on stalled work and as a pre seam sealer of sorts. (this might or might not be a good idea BTW) Paint it into the seam real wet and wipe off excess with some solvent after 20 seconds. The idea is to seal and lock the inaccessible rust in the seam.

It's time to get some pieces done.

I started to clean up some of the suspension parts, since I can now powder coat the larger items.

Here some of them done

Also did the pedal cluster.

Here the before

Here after the pan piece blasted and coated and with new bushings.

And ready for the time of installation.

Cheers
Engelbert

So I got all the large items of the suspension powder coated.

Got some parts ready for yellow zinc plating, and will drop them of by Kahiko this week.

I ordered some door hinge pins and spring plate covers and they cam normal zinc plated. I was thinking that these items are Yellow Zinc plated. I know the Spring plate covers were on the 87 Cab, Now I hear different things. The door pins should be silver, and the spring plate cover should be painted black.
If the spring plate covers are black for the 1970, I can just powder coat them.

Here are the parts how the came.

I also started to clean up the front and rear chrome bumperettes, to have them re-chromed. Not sure how clean they have to be.

Cheers
Engelbert

Thanks, I bookmarked that page. It looks like the torsion bar covers are black on that car.

The big question, what now, powder coat black or yellow zinc.

Thanks
Engelbert
