Yeah it's hard to explain something to your daughter that you've never experienced

Tell her that Navin R. Johnson thought it was a way to send extra money home...

You answer: "what you mom should of given ME" and roll on w/ the conversation!

But seriously, I think its a generational/american/religious/whatever thing. Europeans have no problem talking about sex. The japanese SURE dont. Neither do many young people today. Your offense is a sign that you're getting old Like it or not, you don't have to be a white trash whore to wear something offensive. I find it depressing that I would likely get stoned for wearing a pic of mohammed on a t-shirt. People, get a life.

Edit: Damn I type slow. I thought I'd be the first to respond...

I though people who wore pics of Bob Marley were the ones who got stoned?

I have no issue with being crude or discussing sex, women, body parts or physical acts of love but there is a time and place. There are taboos in every society. Wearing a picture of mohammed would not get you stoned here but elsewhere it would. I don't believe that the blowjob discussion has to be induced by some inconsiderate, amoral miscreant who thinks wearing that t-shirt is ok. It is OK if you are at spring break in a wet t-shirt contest but at Roy Rogers with kids around? This society frowns on it and it should.

In principle I do agree. But I'm not sure which is the better response philosophy. Since we do have have certain freedoms, censorship is sometimes problematic. But I tend to feel that pointing out the DumbAssGene behaviour is sometimes helpful. I wouldn't necessarily want to draw attention to it in front of a child. But if they were to ask, I don't think it needs to be a big, dramatic production. Simply point out that some people are idiots, and shame on them for not knowing better. I've seen too many "strict" households over the years, where the kids ended up being the most obnoxious, irreverant, disgusting cretins out there. (heck...some are even on this board....)
I guess its kinds like germs.....so much attention is spent lately on being sanitary and clean, that kids aren't naturally developing immunities any longer; the world did reasonably well for centuries without all those costly disinfectants. A little dirt isn't gonna kill ya.....
