I believe there have been multiple suicides in the Hemingway family.

If your x looks anything like that avatar you had of that girl on the tractor, I'd be glad to help you out.

I read a few Hemingway novels and also spent some time in Key West so this thread motivated me to read his story on Wikipedia. I did not remember that he served in WWI as an ambulance driver and WWII as a war correspondent. He saw heavy action in both wars, was seriously wounded in WWI and was awarded a Bronze Star for bravery during World War II. Seems those experiences alone would definitely jade someone's views about life and death.

I also didn't know that he and other family members suffered from an unusual blood disorder called "Hemachromatosis" which is an inability to metabolize iron or too much iron in the blood (happy to have the Dr. correct as needed). This seemed to be the common link to why he and several other family members committed suicide.

Try us. Hemmingway is a gold mine any way you look at him, and the bridge was too easy.

We are a friendly bunch here (well, not always me ), and appreciate it when new people on the Board introduce themselves and add a least a first name to their signature so we know who we are talking too. Info on your cars is appreciated as well (i.e., year and model).

And yes, it is helpful if you assume at least one person will jump all over anything you say. If you have that mindset, you'll be pleasantly surprised the few times it does not happen

Those with more than a couple of posts have relatively (or very) thick skins. They have to...
