Clearly you guys never took any quantum physics or chaos courses... we violated those laws constantly... that's what magic steps and engineers are for.

Ditto Michael, what happened? I couldn't tell from the vid, I thought maybe something happened when you reached your hand up to the dash, but it was hard to tell. Let us know, hopefully it's not too serious.
Obviously you didn't aren't having a good weekend, but I was going to PM you and Paul and say I probably wasn't going to make it up this weekend. Damn man... just read the description on youtube... 3.4 and a grinding noise... oil starvation issue? That was a surprisingly non-violent but sudden death. Usually they either really blow up or they'll run seemingly forever even though the damage is done. Last edited by wastintime; 06-21-2008 at 12:08 AM. |

Thanks for posting the working version, Pete. I had to re-upload it. I guess the other failure was the screw-up of getting the unprocessed version of the video.
Yes, the grinding noise, very non-violent, you can hear it buried in the wind noise as I go to accelerate through turn 4 and then again slightly just after 5. The hand going up is when I reach for the hazards. If you want to compare it to the good laps, check out the video with the ID 4kLhf7QZJac and you'll notice a massive speed difference through there. When I checked the oil, it was full of metal bits. This was several levels of Not Good™. Anyway, a new motor is in my future. -Michael

I know this isn't really a big consolation, but the last time I checked a crate motor was still pretty darn cheap from Porsche... they're only like 33% of the cost of a 964 or 993 motor. You can probably find a decent used one from Parts heaven or somewhere too.
