Default 996 rear shocks

Anyone her know if you can change the rear shocks on a 996 without using a spring compressor? Any tips, tricks? I changed them on my previous 911, but it had torsion bars not coilovers.

Thanks

I didn't need a spring compressor when I replaced my OEM springs to H&R.

Just un bolt the three top nuts and bottom bolts of the strut. Everything will simply fall out.

Complete instructions can be found on www.renntech.org

Search "suspension"

If you are installing shorter springs odds are you dont need the compressor, but it's surely safer.

If you find that you need to compress the springs have some one sit on the back of the car or jack the susp on one side then the other to compress. Tie the spring coils using strong wire. Coathangers work well. Unload suspention and springs will be loose. Better way is to purchase $10 spring compressor or borrow my crappy $10 spring compressor.
