i didn't care for it at first, but after seeing it in person it really grew on me. the maser.
in a dark, shiny color, it's a very nice looking car. the lines are just right. 400hp... the only down side for me is the paddle shifter, but i'm a three-pedal type of guy... the lines are perfect. it doesn't hurt that it has (reportedly ) very good balance when driven hard. we'll see if the p-saloon measures up, at least in the looks department, 'cause if the rumors are right, it's getting a detuned version of the v10

There is a dark blue one in georgetown with a plastic yellow lion glued to the hood. It is owned by the same guy who has a silver M3 convertible with a 12" winged chrome lady bolted square to the center of the hood. Why? I guess because he can.

what happened? have your action figures gone missing?

seriously, *THAT* requires some sort of intervention... remember the way teeth were supposedly pulled out when you were a kid? string, door or other moving object... why not put a loop around the statue on the hood made from some thin, barely-visible fishing line, tie it off to something, maybe even his own wheels... watch the fun as he drives off

That thing is so whored up with body panels and makeup that it is silly to pronounce on the looks of it at this point.

It "looks" like it will have a 997 turboesque front end. Since this is Porsche, you can bet that it will not have any banglesque oddities on the sides, but that it will have that "Porsche" curve to the side panels (ala CGT) and the curve to the back window corner (ala 911). The rear will probably have serious references to the CGT. Porsche is really not usually that "bold" with their stylings (ok, 928 aside), so you should be able to predict how it will look. It could look great. Even if it does not look great, it will probably not be outright ugly. That said, I can tolerate the Cayenne, so . . .

even if ugly, fast is beautiful... the REAL question is, will it be allowed in DE's?
(just imagine that v10 being the new terror in black/red )

No reason not to allow it in DEs -- I'm sure we will see a bunch of them. It's only SUVs that we hate

I'm with Kurt. There is too much tape and taped-on cladding to really get a feel for the final shape and detailing.

To me, the jury is still in session.

Case in point, the Cayenne has grown on me. Heck I even look admiringly at 996's these days. And I used to think both were horrible abominations compared to an old 911. Porsche's designs are always sublime. Rarely stunning at first, but they sure do stand the test of time and age well. I'm confident the Panamera will do the same.
