Thanks,

the car as it is needs, new parking brake pads, new floor mats, and front windsheild trim. i may be replacing them pending on how soon the car sells or i would be willing to work with a potential buying in price to reflect the needed parts.

the car runs great doesnt blow smoke it doesnt burn a ton of oil (from what i read its consistent for what p cars tend to burn). the trans is strong as well as the clutch, whitch was replaced at 189k.

the suspension is pretty much stock but still fairly stiff. ive replaced the barrings and had to get a new left rear hub put on. other then that i hadnt really dug into it.

id rate the motor and trans as a 7 out of 10. in all hounestly it has high miles but it has been very well taken care of by both my father and i in the time that weve owned it.

the suspension is a 5 out of 10, its still smooth and responsive, and stiff when in the corners but you can tell its aged and it wouldnt hurt to get some new struts.

the interrior is as well a 4.5 or 5 out of 10. the dash is perfect no cracks, not faded, the door panels are in good condition, i just need to put the door pockets back on, i had them off when i replaced the window rails and have yet to put them back in. the back seats are very clean not faded and very minimal signs of wear. the front seats could use a re wrap, the passenger seat is fadeding and showing light surface cracks in the color, and the driver seat has a tear in the seat bottom right under where you sit on it. the carpet is clean but the floor mats are stained

the exterrior, that was repainted befor we got the car and it was not the best of jobs. i had hit a deer when i first got the car and dented the front fender and the driver door up, so while that was being fixed i had the whole car re painted and added a turbo tail ( i also have a white deck lid that can go with the car if youd like incase you arent a whale tail fan) the paint is very clean, it has its blemishes here and there like rock chips, but we may be able to work something out about getting the front bumper re sprayed if you are serious about the car. thats where the worst of the chips are.

the car has ran great for me and i see no reason why it wont continue to do so, its due for an oil change next week and i put new spark plugs in not long ago along with a new crank to alt. pulley belt. the car has a fabspeed cat bypass and muffler bypass but agin im willing to work with a buying about that if thats not to their taste. it also has an evolution motorsport intake, but i have the stock air box if thats desired too.

This car was quite a deal, I bought it and flew in to Baltimore to pick it up. Not 120 miles into the trip the car threw a rod turning the engine into a boat anchor. The owner refuses to take the car back or do anything to make amends. Figgures.

No, I knew it had higher miles, Eric told me he drove it 5 or 600 miles a week on a regular basis so I figgured it would be ok for 400 mile drive home. I understand that sh*t happens and think (hope) that he didnt know that the motor was a time bomb. I ended up stranded in Fredricksburg for a night and had to have a friend drive up to get the car and myself. What errks me is that Eric refuses to do anything about the car, id bring it back to him at my cost or some sort of adjustment to the price, I even told him id split the diference but now he is MIA and refuses to do anything.

<personal info deleted>

that worries me because he may have known that the motor was at the end of the line and was just dumping the car.

I'm not sure this is the proper venue to deal with this type of dispute.

As you yourself admit, you have zero idea whether Eric had any idea that the motor might have a problem.

I am sure you have heard the saying "buyer beware."

Did you buy it "as is" or did Eric offer you a warranty?

If he didn't offer you a warranty then, frankly, you have no beef with him.

Yeah, I would be upset too, but I wouldn't necessarily direct it against Eric, or list his info on a website with the suggestion that he is dishonest.

P.S. I know nothing about this particular car and I don't know Eric.

Well, If I sold a car and the engine essentally self distructed 120 miles into the trip I do what I could to make it right. I cant say if Eric is honest or not and there may or may not be anything practical I can do as far as sueing him. What I am saying is that he is not a stand up guy, I think almost anyone on this forum would at least attempt to make amends if a car they sold performed in such a mannor. Not Eric.

You got a smoking deal. Stop bashing Eric, buy a 3.2 off eBay, and plug it in the back of your nice looking Targa. With the price you paid for that car, you'll still be way ahead of most of us owners of aging 911s.

As far as your insinuation that Eric is dishonest. I think you are way off base given the manner in which he represented and priced the car on this thread. To me, he was honest to almost a fault in how he rated the condition of the car.

At 217K miles you should realize that the engine needs a complete rebuild and could fail any day. It is unfortunate that it failed on your drive back home, but I doubt even the most experienced mechanics and predict when an engine will fail given the variables involved -- including those introduced by the driver (were you just loafing along when the engine failed or were you driving like you stole it?) and weather (heat, humidity, etc.). Stop blaming Eric and just get on with fixing and enjoying the car.
