I peeled away the tin, shroud, induction and valve covers to get a good look at the engine, and to clean her up. I augmented the page my engine drop page with thumbnails that click thru to some quite large close-ups. Comments are encouraged, particularly from those of you with some experience gazing upon old engines.
I'm going to raise the "loose head stud nuts" thread from the dead over at Pelican. Make sure to check that out, also.

Those patches are the solution to a problem I have to fix in that the only leaks from my engine rebuild are coming from the exact area. I was told it was a common leak area on an old engine. One side I have done with silicone seal. I will re-do both of the slotted sleeved areas with JB weld on the next oil change.

Greg, just curious, what type of MFI setup did you get? E/S, mag or plastic stacks?

from the Pelican crowd. I managed to buy a complete, soup-to-nuts 2.4S MFI setup off a running car (the seller is installing an RS-spec engine). The pump has been rebuilt to 2.4S spec (potentially by Pacific Fuel Injection - I'm still researching that). Obviously, the stacks are not "period correct" - Porsche went to plastic in 72. Anyway, I paid $1,300 - complete, including engine tin and a proper yellow 2.4T shroud (need to keep the sleeper look!). $1,000 for plastic stacks sounds crazy to me, even by crazy unobtanium Porsche parts prices ...
