Default '06 Jefferson 500 May 19-21

The story behind who is running this event is ever changing. Brian Redman and his son James own Intercontinental Events and traditionally have organized this vintage race for most of the last 16 consecutive runnings.

Last year they farmed it out to HMSA [Historic Motor Sports Association] who also run several notable events on the left coast. Most of the entrants ... self included ... did not like the format, cutback on track time, schedule of practice / qualifying and deletion of Saturday night celeb / racer dinner / roast.

So ... the Redman's have taken it back and are having the dinner on site.

Here are some links:

Intercontinental Events

Registration

HMSA Jefferson 500 page linking to pages above but ... also has results and photos from last year.

We will be there with: '62 356, '73 IROC, '74 RSR. Red Dog Racing will also be there pitting with us and their very nicely prepared Navy blue white #55 and white wheeled RSRs.

Potomac 356 Group [part of 356 registry] and Nat'l Capital Chapter BMW clubs will be there. Hope to get over to visit them on outside of T6-9. From what I understand .. they are all preparing feasts and car corrals.

C U There!

Jase, do you have a schedule of events?
I'm going on a canoe trip out that way and could make a detour Friday Morning or Sunday afternoon.
I assume Sunday afternoon would be worth the trip, but what will be going on on Friday.
What is the cost for Visitors? Will I be able to get in the paddock or will it be off limits? (Any password or secret handshake?)
Which track (s)?
It's a long shot, but may be a last minute oppertunity to watch some cool hardware.

Oh yeah... Good luck and keep the shiney side up!

Every year I plan to go the Jefferson 500 but something always pops up that prevents me from making it. This year, I have blocked Sat. for the race and come hell or high water I will be there. Looking forward to seeing all the old racecars and what amazes me is they are still fast by any standard.

It's on the big track despite the name, right? Maybe I could head up with the family on Sunday.

No, but they make reasonable shelter in a downpour.
I was able to deligate all the hauling to others so I can bring the Targa.
My favorite road "Smoke Hole Road" was freashly paved last year and it is the last leg of the trip to the camp site. I have no problem running to town if the need arises!!

Anyone know what the deal might be on Friday Morning?
Is the Paddock off limits?

Looked at the schedule. Saturday seems to work best for me. See you there although Sunday's finales could be tempting if time allows.

I looked at the schedule too, the year is right, but the dates are way off.
