And I, too, have gotten a ticket on Rt 30 along that stretch. I had just picked up the pace a little to get some redneck off my ass when a copper comes around a bend. Little bugger had his radar on driving up and down that road trolling for a victim. |

It’s good you got the lesser charge. There’s been some posts here on VA’s relatively new law and why not everyone hits that jack pot Quote:
That’s what cops do, especially in jurisdictions without a strong tax base

Well, now some of your collective replies are helping me to smile. I do appreciate that.
Before the trip home when I got nabbed, it was a helluva fun day at Middle Peninsula Airport. We were helping NASA determine whether the old back runways and tactical driving school track would be suitable for autocrossing. I got to drive 15-20 runs, 45-50 seconds each, 3rd gear in 3 sections of each run and several acorn-testing camel hump-like elevation changes. For you DE guys, that may not seem like much. But for an autocrosser that's a whole bunch of bonus adrenaline. http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/32606/site.html

My las ticket was 6 years ago and it was for 89 in a 55. I was charged with reckless driving. I hadn't had a ticket in 15 years prior to that. I claimed that the truck I was passing tried to run me off the road so I had to speed way up to avoid being hit by the mamouth truck. I argued that I didn't see where my driving however stupid it wasn't recless. I felt it more recless to joust with the much bigger vehicle than to distance myself from it. I also pointed out to the judge that he could see by my driving record that I don't make a habbit of driving at those speeds on the state highway. (can't you just smell the BS) He saw it my way and only charged me with simple speeding, he did however charge my checkbook with the full dollar amount of 34 over.
My advice to you is don't refere to your car as a Porsche just call it my car. Ask for leinance and let the chips fall where they may. Right after court invest in a Valentine 1 mine saves my butt every day! Good luck!

You have received good advice thusfar. One additional note...
Be sure to interview several attorneys who: (a) regularly defend people cited for such violations (ask about experience, strategy, rates, your role in the defense, range of possible outcomes, his assessment of the judge(s) that preside over the court, etc.), AND (b) have ties to the community and the court in which your case will be heard. Subject matter expertise and local knowledge are key to a positive outcome. Good luck.
