Nope, it's more the challenge of hitting that quarter sized dot at 300 yards. Kinda like getting within 2" of the perfect apex for all corners at Summit Point.

Rick....you are correct to a point. The only thing you have to register on an AR15, is the lower receiver. Below 16" you have to register the rifle as a short barrel. You can build a short barrelled rifle with a "Form 1" ..."application to make and register a firearm", and once that's approved you can swap multiple length barrel uppers on your AR-15 as you wish, and be legal. Short barrel with a supressor....great fun.

Default Suppressor

Rick,

If your considering a suppressor you need to consider the SWR line - http://www.swrmfg.com/products.asp

The SpecWar1 is an awsome unit. I had a prototype of the QD3K on a MP5K that made the weapon operate like a paintball marker - dry, smooth, quiet and almost no flash. Very light with quick install/removal which works very well for PSD/Force Protection ops. It was almost as quiet as a MP5SD which has an intergral suppressor unit.

I think SWR is far superior to Gemtec or any of Bowers supps.

Be very careful with the whole "constructive possession" of a class 3 weapon. A full auto bolt assembly or trigger group and an AR15 lower, even if you have no other parts, is good for felony 25+ in the Fed pokey. I think BATF is rather "aggressive" in your region.

I have also been looking at the AAC supressor. The AAC M4-2000 comes with a lifetime warranty, 35db sound reduction, and three twists and its on. I am doing it all legal...just lots of paperwork.
