I have the needed materials and weld the stuff all the time and would be glad to lend a hand.

We had a nice christmas at Mickelwait Manor,
Gave 3 stone diamond and platinum neckless and lot of little goodies to the wife and got a new office chair (am sitting in it right now) a Craftsman scooter and a 3 month old to share Christmas with
(A scooter is little short chair with wheels and a hydraulic hight adjustment that is good for working on wheels, brakes and the like)

I hope all had a good Christmas and a good year to come.
Kurt:

You're on!! Let's work out a time that works best for both of us. Perhaps Keith would like to join in the fun? I have not run a bead since 7th grade! No MIG or TIG just acetelyne. This will be cool!

How about Sunday? The shop will be open and both the MiG and Plasma cutter will be rocking on the 914 project I am working on.

Keith, I got a Miller unit. I also have a Miller MiG and will someday hook a big shop only Miller MiG/TiG/stick with a spool gun when I hit a jackpot. You will like MiG if all you are used to is stick (Arc) or Ox/Acetylene.

Miller is one of the better brands as are Hobart and Lincoln to name a few. I prefer Miller because I know that I will be able to get parts and consumables in the years to come. I have some Harbor Freight tools but tend to stay away from off brands with regard to things that have consumables or might need complex repair. The unit I decided on is a 120 volt so it is portable but will cut up to 1/4 mild steel. It is convertible from a drag gun to a stand off unit and can be used to gouge out old welds and the like. It has a built in air compressor and auto pilot start. The nice thing about the built in compressor is that you are not tied to a air line and you can just plug in and cut away with the air supply always being just right.

As for tomorrow, All Dorki are welcome to come by and hang out and/or cut up some scrap if anyone is interested in trying their hand at the plasma or the MiG. After cutting up a 914 there is plenty around! PM me for my phone # or directions. The Taj will be open from 9 am until 3 p.m.. Sorry, no projects (other then the cut/weld) unless you can do them yourself and the lift is occupied. I have my hands full of 914 for the time being.

I tried to PM you twice but don't think it went through - strange ??
Anyhow, can you PM me some directions and a phone number if I get lost? I can be reached at (703) 728-6847 on my cell anytime.

Thanks for the offer, looking forward to seeing Taj too!! See you tomorrrow!!

Very cool.....

It's been since college since I had my hands on a plasma cutter or any welding tools....would be nice to get re-aquainted with a few old friends

I'll probably be over early since I have a few projects I need to finish up myself.

Thanks Kurt.

Kurt,
Thanks for giving Matt and I the shop tour today. Hope we didn't take too much of your time away from the 914 project - an ambitious effort I must say. Your letting my son and I play with the MIG and Plasma was a blast. Matt was pretty fired up, he talked about the experience all the way home. Thanks for the 'hands-on'. You've got a great garage - we're envious.

Bruce,
Happy holidays! This is a great group of guys, can never had too many Porsche-heads in the area - welcome.

Keith

Just reading the posts! Looks like I missed my chance! Uggg. Perhaps another day soon? Sunday wasn't any good since it was my anniversary (7th) so cutting on the ride would have been a no no.

My wife is redeemed...she bought me a 930S steering wheel AND the Bentley Manual for our 7th. Very cool.

Can't wait to see the Taj...

The shop will be open again Tuesday, Friday and over the weekend. All are welcome. Feel free to stop over, just let me know when as I have a habit of wandering off from time to time. Dress warm if it is cold out I dont have the central HVAC installed yet.

My garage just got better. My m-i-l (that's mother-in-law, not MILF) gave me some bucks for xmas, so I picked up a compressor and a set of air tools. Now I just need to think of something to do with them.
