Default Bumperette Repair?

My '87 has the wide bumperettes on the rear fender. Two out of 3 threaded studs have sheared on each of them, so I really can't safely reattach them as-is. A couple of the breaks are below the surface of the bumperette. My understanding is the studs are welded to a plate that is cast into the rubber, although I do not know how deep the plate is.

Anyone here in Dorkiland repair theirs in the past, or have them done by someone else that you can recommend?

Thanks

No personal experience....just thinking out loud.

Perhaps heat up a needle, and then push it into the rubber next to the stud, to see if you encounter the metal plate. Then you'll know the depth. If you can then drill out the studs down to the plate, maybe you can tap new threads and use a bolt to reattach.
