We went down to Los Angeles this past weekend for The Lit Show which also has most of the Porsche performance and restoration shop open houses. Boy, were there some beautiful cars.

At European Collectibles we saw this beautiful, all original 52K mile, 1-owner, '70 914-6, in Adriatic Blue. The car has some chips that were touched up and the usual maintenance done after it sat for 20 years. The asking price is $161,000. Very nice people at EC.

We also saw many beautiful cars being restored at Callas RennSport. Tony Callas is a great guy and they put on an amazing open house. They had so many beautiful cars in process and many that were done and on display. Here is a beautiful late 914 getting a full restoration. The metal/body and paint work done by Kent Simmons who did the metal, body and paint on my car. Absolutely perfect!

Took the Six out to a Cars 'n Coffee in Folsom (CA). Really nice turnout; probably 250 cars of all types. The one I really wanted to put eyes on rolled through and did not stop as they could not find a place to park. It was an all stock (appearing) '69 SS Camaro (L78) 396 car.

Yeah, the Mustang was a real nice car; the color did not work for me. I would have gone with a stock color for that year if I was going to change the color. But, all considered, that would be a nice car to have. Thanks about the color comment on my car; I do love Irish Green.

Well, the planets aligned and I found all 4 cars needed oil, filter, etc. I did the Ridgeline, the Macan GTS, the Turbo S and finally, the most involved of the 4, my Six.

On the Six, draining the engine and oil tank (you have to separate the oil line from the tank to the engine and it is not an easy location to work in) and then of course, 2 oil filters (one on the oil tank console and one on the engine, is a bit of work. Drained 10 quarts out- I can't really drain the oil cooler and cooler lines - I suspect they hold about 2-3 quarts. But I do the oil and filters every year and probably average 4K miles per year in the Six. So not too worried. Anyway, that's done and she is ready for a fun season. Cheers everyone. Michael

You need one of these:

I had Elephant Racing oil lines on my old 911, and they had the above purge valve brazed on. That helped get a large fraction of the oil out of the cooler and lines during an oil change by using a standard tire chuck at moderate pressure. I wonder how hard it would be to add one? Could you do it without removing the line from the car?

Thanks Jeff; that's a great idea. If I have any reason to pull the oil cooler from the nose of the car, I will definitely see about doing/adding that. I would not want to try that in place. Thanks again, Michael

We never really like the shifter in the Turbo S. Today we swapped that out for this nice unit - much, much better looking. Looks like it came from the factory so equipped. The first photo is the stock unit. BTW, this was bought from Euro Impulse. Cheers, Michael
