Thanks for the reply; yes, phase 2 of the project will be to fiberglass the new pieces to the seat shell so they are strong.
My friend Greg did a set of seats like this for his beautiful 914-6 GT clone. He is 6'3" and 230 pounds and they have held up perfectly. I am no where near that height or weight so they will be fine.

Started the New Year off by getting my Six on the lift and cleaning the underside. It had been a while since I had a chance to do this. I was very pleased that she still is nice and dry - not a drip on the ground since we did the 3.6 swap.

That's disgusting! What are you going to do about that speck of dust on the 5th photo???
I don't think the car was that clean when it came off the production line...

For me, the best way to stay on top of possible emerging issues is to get under the car regularly, look and wipe. The added bonus, it keeps the underside pretty clean; I do not enjoy working on dirty cars. Plus, the 914 is so small it is easy to keep clean.

Yesterday I cut quite a few pieces of fiberglass and laid it on the bolsters. We did about 3 layers on each side of the bolsters. Went and had lunch and when we came back it had dried and is very firm. We pulled on them and they are not moving at all. Next step is to do some clean-up of the seat shells and they will be ready for upholstery. Now I have to select the leather and order some seat heaters. Making progress.

Yesterday we got the 3.2 SS with PMO's, twin-plugged, 10.5 to 1 compression, etc., fired up in my friend's 914 which we have converted to steel flares with full paint, suspension, brakes, oil coolers, etc. We have been working on this car for almost a year. We still have to get the interior installed, front and rear glass, axles and wire the fans for the coolers. Hope to be wrapped on that by March 1st. I will have to take some pictures to share. It's not my car so I have to get his permission. My friend Greg is a master Porsche mechanic and I really enjoy working with him as I always learn a lot.

Well, spent some time on the new project with Greg today. I was starting to clean and repack the CV's and noticed the owner had bought the wrong boot kit - full stop. He ordered the right parts to wrap this up on our next trip. So I got the license plates lights sorted (they did not work) installed and are now good. Then we pulled the front bumper to be able to pop the hood as the latch stopped working and we got that sorted and reinstalled the bumper. Located the removable top trunk hardware and got that installed. Did a few other things but nothing notable. Oh, sprayed the top after cleaning it but it came out too glossy.... so we have to buy some satin black and try that. Regardless, we all had a doughnut or two and then killed a Round Table Pizza for lunch. All in all a fun day.

Not much to report; got the axles rebuilt and ready for install next time we meet. They look brand new.
Looks like the engine will be getting dropped in the '69 911S to fix a small oil leak. The car is absolutely perfect; my favorite of all of Greg's cars.

Installed the oil pressure and thermal switch for the oil cooler fans on the yellow car. Our buddy has still not ordered some parts we need to keep moving along. So....
We worked on a '86 911 coupe, Prussian Blue with tan leather - very nice car. Did a whole bunch of little stuff, replacing old damaged stuff with nice new parts. The new owner, who bought the car in October, wants to get the engine completely rebuilt so that will likely come in after the yellow car goes back to our buddy. That should be a lot of fun. Cheers.

I was standing in the garage talking with a neighbor and looking at my car. I thought it had a bit too much downward "rake" so I raised the front about 3/8" and then realigned the headlights and took her for a ride this morning while it was still dark out. All better now.
