I was working on the wife's Audi A3 to replace a servo motor on the HVAC system that had crapped out and air was not going where it needed to. The servo in question was way up in there and attached with two torx bit screws. It was impossible to get anything thicker than about an inch on the screw. This little fella allow you to put just the torx bit in it making it nice and thin. By holding it with your thumb and middle finger and with your ring finger in the loop on the end and your little finger outside, it won't slip out of your hand and you can get enough torque on it to loosen the bolts. Once loose, the thumbwheel is used to loosen the screw quickly. Same for reinstallation since the ratchet can be reversed with the lever. Great little tool for working in tight spaces. Comes with a 1/4 socket adapter as well.

So, I wanted to learn to do some welding and there are a lot of cheap welding equipment on amazon.

I bought this guy on sale for $48 bucks a few weeks back.

These are nice lightweight welders. If you never welded before, be prepared for a serious learning curve. Just to get the arc going is a process, then to actually make a use-able weld. You will be able to do it, just don't really expect it to go well at first unless you are really gifted. Get some stock/practice material and practice. If you are planning to use this to work on auto body sheet metal, it will really be a struggle to not burn through. But, I used my for lots of jobs and it works great once you get used to it.

It really depends on what your welding needs are. If just to learn, then the arc/stick welding capability be fine for regular carbon steel up to 1/8-3/16. As the tig function, touch/scratch start is very hard to do and if learning, you will spend more time restriking an arc than focus on tig techniques.

Does that unit accept gas? if not the tig welds will need excessive heat for it to fuse/melt together and will be very porous. I failed my welding tech cert 2x due to porosity - gas pressure too low the first time and lack of penetration - heat too low the second. Luckily third time was a charm.

I find myself gravitating to the mig for most mild steel and the tig for stainless and aluminum.
