Default 86 911 popped out of 3rd

Way back when I first got my 911, I replaced the shift linkage bits in the tunnel behind and between the front seats. I remember adjusting, and was never convinced I had it perfect. I thought the part I used was a special Dorkiphus made bit.
Today I was running errands and celebrating the brakes feeling healthy again, and it popped out of third. I put it back into 3rd again easily enough, but it popped out again. Could the adjustment of this bushing in the floor correct this issue?

Found an article and it all came back once I opened the panel and looked at the linkage. I adjusted so the shifter is a tad farther forward and it didn’t pop on test drive. I also installed the rubber boot more securely and the gear noise was reduced slightly.

Fun diy project car!

I remember watching you redo the suspension on that car over at Kurt's many years ago. I'd already done it twice (on my car and on some brown Targa out in Manassas) so I enjoyed watching you do it.

But even stronger in my memory is watching you flog that car at Summit Point before you redid the suspension, with the car heeling like a sailboat in a strong breeze!

I had a similar problem and it ended up being worn motor mounts. Installed solid ones and problem solved.

Pop out under load? Shifts otherwise feel good and the right places in the other gears? Might be dogged out dogs. Check for loose trans bolts on the crossover and all the mounts. Check the shifter and all the stuff in the path from hand to shift shaft. Loose worn crumbled plastic bushings?
