Default Local Paint Shops

I have a silver carrera tail that I need to get painted Tobacco Brown Metallic. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good paint shop in the area that is reasonable with their prices. I don't want to pay near $500 just to get the tail painted since I plan on getting my my SC's color changed to white or yellow by next year. I am looking to spend a few hundred dollars. I spoke with a guy who lives out in Kansas who has a Tobacco Brown SC, he got his turbo tail painted by a European Paint shop and they only charged him $300. I understand that that's Kansas, and the prices may be cheaper, but it isn't like they have to use alot of paint or labor to change the color. Thanks for the feedback.

Since you're gonna be repainting it shortly, why not just paint it flat black (using Krylon) for the "hardcore/badboy" look until then

I'll collect the details and let you know.

Karosserie in Merrifield can do a pretty good job with older cars, although I wouldn't recommend them for the newer water-based, clear-coated models. I can't speak for the competitiveness of their prices.

Bill,

I took some pics of the car painted but waiting to post the finished product. It's 98% back together and should be done tomorrow, (Sat). Everything looks very good. I'll definitely post some pics this weekend.

Pari, just go ahead and bite the bullet and drop it off at that place, since you're not really missing your car and its across the street from you. Didn't they quote you like $300. I'm assuming the turn around should be quick on just a spoiler. Not like mine. There was a 993 that had a door painted and turned it around in 3 days. Other than my timeline, my car really came out good.

Thanks for the replies guys. Vu, you know at one point that thought crossed my mind. Originally I was looking for an all black carrera tail so I wouldn't have to paint it. Jon, no offense, but I would rather mount it on my car silver before I take it to them. When we went there last time the guy said $500. That is a little too much, since I know shops that have told me they could do buff and spray my whole car for $1000. Plus I don't trust their time frame in project completion. Karl, I have had mixed experiences with Karosserie, and I only would want to deal with Lewis if I were to take it there. But I am looking for some new places. Bill, please PM me the shop information when you gather it. I appreciate all the help.

I don't know. Last time I was there (Wed) it was still outside under a tarp, waiting for a Cayene to get finished up so they can get it up on the bench. I'm hoping they started it today. I may take a ride up there tomorrow to check.

I recommended Karosserie because Pari wanted it done inexpensively and I know the place we are using is not inexpensive. I also thought Karosserie might be able to turn it around faster. And I have seen their work on early cars and it is ok. I took an late model Audi to them and was severely disappointed.
