For sale is a complete black canvas fabric Porsche 986 Boxster glass window convertible top assembly from a 2001 Boxster S.
The mechanical top assembly has on it a replacement top with heated glass window which was installed by previous owner. The glass of the top is labeled "Fuyao" which is a the brand of the glass of a top sold by cabriosupply.com with a retail price of $799.95 (https://www.cabriosupply.com/porsche...ndow-1996-2002). This may be the same glass window top sold by other major top retailers (I believe there are only one or two top manufacturering companies out there). I wish to sell the whole assembly with installed Fuyao glass window top for $800 OBO. If you have priced the cost of a new replacement glass window top you will find they are over $500 and higher for just the top and that does not include installation which is a real challenge to do yourself. I have been quoted $1200 plus for a glass window top provided and installed by local Northern VA shops. Plastic window tops are not much cheaper than that after installation costs are included. This top assembly should be an easy replacement for any 1997 to 2002 986 Boxster top, basically three bolts on each side. The top has an electrically heated rear window but does not have the cable for same (the wiring to a socket in the driver's door pillar is already installed in all 986 Boxsters and is controlled by the side mirror heat switch). I believe Pelican sells the heater cable that is used with the OEM hardtops. The top is in Sterling, Virginia. It is in very good condition, it is dusty but has no tears or damage except for one very small dime size rough spot. The glass is excellent. This is a really nice top assembly which would be an easy solution to your cracked, torn, clouded plastic rear window top. Price is for local pick up in the Sterling, VA or Northern Virginia area. Buyer covers any shipping costs if you can't pick it up in the Northern VA area. I understand shipping via Greyhound bus is a cost saving option one might explore. I'll help as much as I can. Ask for large 1 meg photos. mschnittker@verizon.net |
