Default Source for Yellow Zinc Electroplating

Hey guys,
I've been on a quest recently to find a place to plate my suspension bits. There is no one in this area that is affordable so I have been calling all over the eastern seaboard. Anyway, I just spoke with this company in Lynchburg, VA and they sound promising.

CR Hudgins

Ask for, no joke, Johnny Cash.

They will do yellow zinc plating for $58 per Lot. A 'lot' varies but depends on the size of the parts. Small part lots are probably up to a couple hundred pieces. From what I could tell, our spring plates are classfied as small.

You can be setup as a COD customer and ship your stuff down there.

The only caveat is that they don't do any media blasting. He did say however that as long as the part is clean and fairly free of crud, it shouldn't be a problem.

So, there you go. I told they guy I would be posting their info for my 'car enthusiast friends' since we all seem to be looking for this service. I am not affiliated or anything like that. Just wanted to pass on what sounds like a good deal.

Bling? They come from the factory yellow cadmium plated, but cadmium plating has gone the way of the dodo because of those sissies at the EPA. This is just a resto thing - putting them back to original-ish condition. Now, if he were to paint them red and put a Type-R sticker on them, that would be hella-sweet.

And my spring plates still look that way after a year of track abuse...

The zinc/chromate finish is more goldish than the factory cad plating, but you won't find anyone who still does that for a reasonable fee. Just zinc plating can discolor w/ a whitish odization, so the chromate finish is beneficial.

I called around as well. Could only find a place near Baltimore (A1 plating, if I remember) (didn't look as far as Lynchburg). Broke down and called in a favor from a friend in NC who had his plated by a local guy (as a favor). Cost me $25 plus shipping both ways.

Remember, I'm all about the bling that you can't see....

If you're putting in Delrin or similar bushings, the plating helps in that it won't rust and bind, which leads to sqeeks.
