fyi, pending only means they received your registration. Once the dust settles, they figure out how many instructors they have and that more or less determines how many green and blue slots there will be. For the initial round they ususally only confirm one student per instructor (more or less) and put everyone else on a waitlist. As additional instructors sign up or confirmed students drop out, they will release additional slots.

For white I believe it is a decision as to just how many white drivers can safely be on that particular track at once. I have seen as many as forty at VIR........I imagine the limit for SP is quite a bit smaller.

My experience has been last year when in Blue, if I signed up very early (like no later than 6 or 7:00 a.m.) the first day, I always got in. Don't wait a couple of days. You can always cancel later if your plans need to change (but where are your priorities?). Sum Point is the most competitive to get in. Out of town tracks tend to be easier.

Sign up fior the away events now! They are open and are well worth the drive regardless of the group you are in. Driving to an away event? We never leave anyone stuck if you have a mech problem at the track. Check in with AAA sometimes it is well worth the membership $ if you have a problem at the track and need a ride home.

Alright, somebody give a noob some details. I checked Potomac Region's website and it says I need to do a HPDC first. What all does that involve, and anybody know if showing proof of successfully completing another driving school would let me waive that requirement?

Scuba, it depends on the other driving event that you did. Yes, a HPDC is a requisite for DE, however I know cases where this was waved if the person already had previous track experience. Send an email to one of these people and they should be able to answer your questions further:

Thanks, I did a little reading and found the 3 x AX requirement, but I'll give it a shot anyway and see what they say.

A previous driving school will get you in. The reason is for all to have some idea of what they are getting into and what a turn in, corner or apex is. Flattens the learning curve some for day one. You can also ask direct at pcapotomac.org in the Porsche talk fourms.

Alright, so I sent off an email telling 'em I've been racing motorcycles for 3 years, and did the school Brumos Porsche offers that's taught by Hurley, so hopefully they'll deem me worthy. (fingers crossed)
