+1! Find the high point and work out from there.

I had my guys add a 3" base under everything. Shorties can pound sand.

Just finishing up a kitchen remodel of my own. My son had purchased a house very similar to yours Bill, a one story rancher. The living area consisted of a kitchen, dining room, and living room approx. 25 X25. We took down all the walls to create one great room. It of course took way more time and work than I had anticipated, especially reconfiguring all the electrical and plumbing, but turned out pretty nice.

Default Day 24

Day 24 update:

The cabinets are almost done. Countertops are supposed to be delivered tomorrow afternoon. The giant pile of trash is supposed to be removed tomorrow morning, just in time to avoid the hurricane spreading it all over the neighborhood. Contractor says it'll be finished early-to-mid next week, so possibly by next Friday.

Nice progress.

You having undercabinet lights put in since there isn't much working light on the ceiling? They help a lot, and reduce shadows over the work/ prep areas.

I don't envy you at all because it looks like so much work. It also looks very nice though. Can't wait to see it all done.

I agree,
Nice progress! and under cabinet lights are nice to have, they serve as extra light when you need it and ambient light when you don't want the main light blaring (evenings and/or parties you'll host for Dorkis)

note: I don't have them, but my mom does in her re-done kitchen. I hope to get around to my kitchen redo when/if I ever finish my car projects and get my garage hvac fixed.

I wanted to have an undercabinet light above the sink. The "designer" overruled me and convinced Management that a recessed light in the ceiling above the sink would be better. We'll see. Worst case, I'll stick a battery-powered LED light under there.

Default Day 25

Day 25 Update:

We now have countertops! A different crew of two guys came with the tops. Took them about an hour to install everything. The island is now in its final position.

It's starting to look like a real kitchen!
