PCA Huston Valley has a DE on September 22nd at Lime Rock. This would be my first event outside of PCA-P. Does anyone have experience running with the Hudson Vally group or driving Lime Rock to share?

I did my first event on track there many moon ago at Skippy School but havent been there in 20 years now. I know Fumes did the club race there last year so he likely has some more up to date info.
ps. Our Club Race is that weekend - come and volunteer instead!

A bucket list track for sure. Short and fast. Easy to learn hard to master. The scenery is breathtaking and a good track to bring a significant other to. Be careful with your GPS as you can't get on the parkway with a truck and trailer if you have one. Map out your route ahead of time. Ask me how I know.

Lime Rock is an expierience,
Short and challenging........my only issue with it is the VERY HIGH risk vs reward......going off is not good and usually a wall.... The jump on the uphill is unsettling to say the least. But its definately challenging amd worth a trip, As Scott said, be very careful with a trailer and prepared for ungodly toll costs

First track for me, I ran my race prepared Mini Cooper S there many, many years ago. Perfect car for that track. As noted, this is a short track that can be difficult and risky, but a fun track to drive and an excellent track to spectate, especially sitting on the hills overlooking the esses.
It also has one of the most rigid noise standards, which is often monitored by locals themselves. Local town is interesting, home to Harney's if you are a tea drinker.

Fun track. Ran it many times when I lived in NJ. Haven't driven it since it went all fancy for ALMS races etc (ie, repaved, chicanes added etc) but it is as mentioned above.. fun and challenging.. short.. beautiful scenery.. love the up hill and really learned to love the downhill.

Hudson Valley is a great group to run with. Easy going attitude, but run fun and safe events. LRP is a wonderful track and is guaranteed to challenge your abilities.

The big thing about this track is risk/chassis management once you hit your baseline laptime. Do not drop wheels (not even one) and do not go off. If you do, you'll be in the wall. End of story. There is zero runoff. Seen it happen too many times and only done 4 races there. Very high risk but very high reward track and very fun to drive.
T1/2 you can brake deeper than most do -- vry long trail brake - roll as much speed into the first apex as you can -- to be quick the fronts should be pleading for grip. But the release is what matters -- smooth to make sure you have the front end grip when you need it on 2nd apex while maintaining good speed mid-corner. T3 most people seem to go too deep - on power then big breathe and gentle trail brake to get car rotated and all the way left to setup 4. Essentially you sacrifice this to get setup and have a happy chassis for 4. T4 - Toss the car in open wheel get on power early, quickly, and smoothly. Careful on the exit, dropping a wheel here is a disaster with a loaded up chassis. T5 - Uphill. Carry tons of speed the car will compress and get on power quick. STRAIGHT HANDS AT THE TOP. Remember, straight with the chassis not the track. If you have steering in the car when it lands it gets dicey. I screw this up on the regular and it is serious pucker. Quick cup cars get fronts totally airborne - bonkers. T6 - Roll TONS of speed like T10 at Summit. Lift and brush and throw the car in on apex and get on power. EYES WAY UP there is a bridge coming up you can easily slide too far left and no bueno. Again, Do not drop wheels or you're effed and it won't end well. T7 - The intimidating downhill. Decreasing radius so carry more speed than you are comfortable with and you'll be rewarded with laptime. Turn your head on way down EYES WAY UP stay all the way left, be patient for car to compress, then turn in quickly and much more than you think - eyes still way up look for exit - again - no dropping wheels on exit a loaded chassis will be a disaster. Main straight - challenging but Evan says this is my best sector. I crush the straights. Here's video from a first sprint this year. Terrible start, but finished p1 class p1 overall. Run groups were kind. Had a blast racing against a well-driven Mulligan Cup. Colin was much lighter than me on slicks, but I had the motor and the balance. Stupid fun.
